SCCYC is a club you use, not just belong to.

 

Members race, cruise, crew for one another, gather for stories and meals, and pitch in to keep the club running. Whether you own a boat or not, you’ll find opportunities to get on the water and become part of the community.

On the Water: Racing & Cruising

 

Racing

 

SCCYC is well known for its commitment to dinghy and one-design racing, while also supporting PHRF and cruiser racing throughout Southern California.

 

Thursday nights mean five fast races, sunset over the marina, and stories shared back at the clubhouse. Our members race everything from dinghies to offshore boats and compete locally, nationally, and internationally.

Experience levels range from first-time racers to seasoned competitors—everyone is welcome on the line.

 

Cruising

 

Cruising is just as central to club life. Members regularly sail or power cruise to Catalina, Paradise Cove, King Harbor, and beyond.

 

Our annual multi-club cruise to Emerald Bay is a highlight of the season, combining sailing, beach time, shared meals, and lasting friendships.

The Clubhouse & Facilities

 

Open 24/7, the SCCYC clubhouse is a second home for many members.

 

• Comfortable lounge and stocked self-service bar
• Cold beer always available
• Dinghy mast-up dry storage and five-ton hoist
• Assistance securing slips or storage through our Port Captain
• Reciprocal privileges at yacht clubs throughout the region

Built and maintained by members, the clubhouse reflects the club itself—practical, welcoming, and always ready for a good story.

 

Membership Basics

Membership at SCCYC is designed to foster participation and community.

Open to individuals and families interested in sailing, boating, and club life
Sponsorship by three current members
Initiation fee: $120
Dues: $230 per quarter (approximately $77/month)

Our History

Founded in 1932 by sailors launching handmade boats from the sands of Santa Monica, SCCYC remains the oldest yacht club in Santa Monica Bay.

While much has changed—including the completion of our current clubhouse in 2020—the spirit of hands-on sailing, camaraderie, and volunteerism remains at the heart of the club.
