On October 7, South Coast Corinthian Yacht Club, in collaboration with the Santa Monica Sailing Foundation , hosted an Intro to Dinghy Sailing Workshop.
Basic concepts of sailing and operation of a dinghy were first covered in a classroom setting led by Rodney Percival before the afternoon hands on introductory session.
Novice sailors were able to go out on the water for their first dinghy sailing experience while also giving seasoned big-boat sailors the opportunity to step into dinghies—many for the very first time. The result was a lively, hands-on day of learning, confidence-building, and genuine excitement on the water.

Participants left energized and inspired. Several new sailors expressed interest in continuing their sailing education, and many experienced sailors commented on how refreshing and skill-sharpening it was to return to small boats. That kind of cross-pollination is exactly what keeps sailing vibrant and growing.

We are thankful to Tucker Strasser of the Santa Monica Bay Sailing Foundation and grateful for the foundation's continued commitment to expanding access to sailing and supporting programs that welcome people of all backgrounds and experience levels onto the water.
Many thanks to the volunteers who came to support this effort.
